Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas will be opening its first resort in Central America and chose Papagayo in Guanacaste, Costa Rica as its location.
Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas produces its sustainable and ultra-luxury footstep to Central America as it couples up with The Canyon Group to publish the development of Six Senses Papagayo.
Six Senses Resorts and Spas Costa Rica is offering a new adventure for those exploring the love of life and well-being in a private, eco-conscious and away-from-it-all destination.
The breathtaking 2,300-acre (930-hectare) Papagayo Peninsula consistently rates as one of the most exceptional Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas in the world. With 15 miles (24 kilometers) of pristine coastline and exotic beaches, the peninsula features discreetly-sprinkled hotels and residences.
Perhaps the most surpassing characteristic of Papagayo is that even when fully developed, 70 percent of the landmass will be preserved as nature intended.
Six Senses Papagayo, when completed, will be unique on the peninsula. The site stretches from the highest point and 360-degree panorama of the Guanacaste archipelago to a forested beachfront dotted with 41 secluded and generously-sized pool villas.
The highlight of the resort will be Six Senses wellness programming along with a beautiful spa and fitness center and a myriad of activities.
There will be an organic farm located in the heart of the property including fruit, vegetable and herb gardens inspiring the chef’s menus and signature spa treatments. There is also an emphasis on community and celebration, whether that means a knees-up during a celebration on the beach or a lazy day spent with loved ones.
“We are very excited about our first project in Central America,” said Chief Executive Officer Neil Jacobs of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas. “Our own values epitomize Costa Rica’s commitment to sustainability and the essence of Pura Vida (pure life) culture. Everything starts with the question of preserving the natural and cultural heritage of Costa Rica while enhancing social and economic benefits. If we can’t answer it, we don’t do it. Wherever we are in the world, this sensitivity, and acting on it whole-heartedly, has catapulted Six Senses to being consistently voted Top Brand in the World by Travel + Leisure magazine.”
Chief Executive Officer Homi Vazifdar of The Canyon Group said, “This is the culmination of the perfect country, the perfect region, the perfect brand and extremely committed sponsors. We are delighted to work with Six Senses and the Garnier Group to create not only the best and most notable destination in Latin America but perhaps in the world. We have done this before and hope to do it again.”
Six Senses and The Canyon Group are thrilled to proclaim the selection of John Heah, award-winning, London-based architect. He is world-renowned for his sense of theatre and the ability to artfully harmonize design with nature in the style of Carlo Scarpa, Ed Tuttle, and Frank Lloyd Wright, all of whom have deeply influenced his work. Among some of the most celebrated projects, Heath’s impressive portfolio includes Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan and Amanera in the Dominican Republic.
Six Senses Papagayo is located 40 minutes from Liberia International Airport, which offers daily flights to and from just about every major metropolitan hub in the United States, as well as Canada and Latin American countries.
Six Senses Papagayo is slated to open in 2021.
